![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I read the first chapter when they released it on their website for Trans Visibility Day and wanted more right then and there. And, like author Keito Gaku states in his interview with Kodansha Comics, more of these stories are about trans women, or nonbinary people who present more femininely, than trans men.īecause of this, when Kodansha announced in March of 2021 that they would be publishing a manga about a trans boy, by a trans author, I was excited. There are completed works like Wandering Son, oneshot manga like The Bride was a Boy, as well as ongoing series like Love Me for Who I Am, but trans manga are few and far between. But, when it comes to stories about transgender and nonbinary characters, there’s significantly fewer. Stories about sexuality featuring gay characters, like That Blue Sky Feeling and My Brother’s Husband, have been coming out pretty steadily if you include the genres of yaoi and yuri. In recent years, representation has become more common, but with a noticeable disparity. As a member of the LGBT community and a fan of anime and manga, I always keep my eye on series that feature LGBT characters. ![]()
